The Westin Monache has 210 suites in four classes: deluxe studio suite, one-bedroom suite, two-bedroom suite, and the two-bedroom luxury suite. Standard amenities include kitchens with dishwashers, flat screen cable television, and internet access. Large windows with spectacular views, gas fireplaces, and patios complete the features for these luxury suites. ADA-approved rooms are also available. Room service is offered 24/7, and the Westin is a pet-friendly resort. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out is by 12 p.m. Package deals are available, and they include area attractions and local, seasonal events.

Deluxe Studio Suite

This open concept suite is perfect for a romantic getaway. Appointed with a king-sized bed, the suite is open and airy. The kitchenette includes an intimate dining space. Create your own meals, order in, or go out and enjoy one of the many local restaurants.

One-Bedroom Suite

This suite offers the privacy of a bedroom with the openness of a living space including a kitchenette and dining area. The one-bedroom suites have a private patio. Hours of operation are breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.; lounge from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. In-room dining is also available. The Mammoth Lakes region is home to two golf courses: Sierra Star and Snowcreek.

The Sierra Star Golf Course was designed by Cal Olsen. The 18-hole, par-70 course has forest-lined fairways and breathtaking views. The 6,708-yard course is rated 71 with a slope of 133. Rentals are available and the course offers lessons and season passes.

The Snowcreek Golf Course was designed by Ted Robinson, Sr. This 9-hole, par-35 course has a more challenging landscape. This course has fabulous views of Mammoth Mountain, and features a small clubhouse with a café and pro shop. Lessons are available for those who are taking up golf. Collared shirts are a requirement along with other appropriate golf attire including non-metal spikes. Players must provide their own clubs.

Scenic Gondola Ride (Seasonally Operated)

Mammoth Mountain's 11,053-foot summit is waiting for you to explore its massiveness. Relax on a gondola ride to the top, or experience the stunning, panoramic views of the Sierras. The views you see topside will take your breath away. Afterward, you can hike down the mountain or take the gondola back down. Either way, you will be impressed by the view.

Mountain Biking and Hiking

4. Winter Activities

There are over 3,500 acres set aside for skiing at Mammoth. With an average snowfall of 400 inches, this mountain resort lays a great snow foundation. Rental skis and snowboards are available. In addition, a ski valet is on site to store your ski/snowboard equipment, anddrop off and pick up are easy.

Nordic Skiing

For a great workout surrounded by beautiful scenery, try cross country skiing. Nineteen miles of groomed trails are available at the Tamarack Cross Country Ski Centre, which isopen from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Here you can rent equipment and find maps to the trails. Lessons and guided tours are also available.

Snowmobiling

The Mammoth Lakes region offers over 100 miles of trails. In addition to the groomed, multiuse trails, there are over 150,000 wide open acres on which to explore via snowmobile. Mammoth Ice Rink

An outdoor ice skating is an iconic winter sport. The skating rink is open for leisure skating and also has hockey games scheduled throughout the week. The skating season spans from December through March, and the rinkis only open weather permitting.

Dog Sledding

Just like something straight out of a Jack London book, try your hand at dog sledding. Huskies and Malamutes lead the way on a tour of a lifetime throughout the mountain range.

24-Hour Fitness Studio

The Westin Monache is host to the WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio. The high-tech equipment and customized workouts will help you keep your fitness routine. Westin has partnered with New Balance to offer equipment rental, making it easier to keep up with your healthy lifestyle without having to transport extra clothing and footwear. Athletic shoes and apparel can be rented for $5. One, three, and five-mile running trails have been certified by New Balance as well. Maps are available at the concierge desk. There is also a year around, outdoor pool with two hot tubs, offering an excellent way to soothe achy muscles after a morning hike or a day of skiing. In addition, there are several spas in the Mammoth Lakes region. Check with the concierge for details.

Westin Kids Club

Offered for children ages 4-12, the Westin Kids Club is a happening place. The club is opened daily from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Activities include games, colouring, books, arts and crafts, movies, and a variety of toys. The cost is $10/hour for the first child and $5/hour for each additional child. The club is only open to Westin Monache guests.

This resort offers affordable luxury for the whole family on a vacation that will build memories to last a lifetime.

The Westin Monache Resort is located in east central California, so you can get to it via several international airports: Los Angeles International Airport, McCarran International Airport, Reno/Tahoe International Airport, and San Diego International Airport. Just over 300 miles from LAX and McCarran airports, it is a 5-hour drive to the resort. The Reno/Tahoe airport is the closest at 164 miles or a 3-hour drive. The San Diego airport is the furthest, being 400 miles or a 6½-hour drive to the resort. Seasonal flights are also available via Horizon Air to the Mammoth Yosemite Airport, which is about 6 miles away from the Westin Monache Resort. If youcan book the right connecting flight, this may be the best option for reaching the resort quickly.

Ground transportation is available via rental cars with several options located at each of the airports. Lengthy bus and train travel is available from LAX but not recommended unless you have plenty of extra time.

The Westin Monache Resort caters to your pets as well. In the room, dogs are treated to plush dog beds, water and food bowls, and special treats. Dogs are allowed on the gondola in order to take in several of the dog approved trails. Many regional restaurants with outdoor patios will allow dogs to accompany their owners: The Side Door Bistro, The Lakefront, The Base Camp, Convict Lake, The Rafters, Smoke yard BBQ and Chop Shop, and Gomez's Restaurant and Cantina. There are also swimming holes specifically designated for dogs: Red's Lake and Horseshoe Lake. The final feature for dogs is a do-it-yourself dog washing station.
