1. Guest Accommodations

Guest Accommodations

The beautiful Lodge at Torrey Pines was built and is decorated in American Craftsman style, a design movement centered on handwork, simplicity, and use of local natural materials. Its rooms and suites feature custom-made furniture, and use fine fabrics and carpeting. All rooms have sumptuous beds decked in Egyptian cotton linens and quilted duvets, marble and granite bathrooms, safes large enough for laptop computers, Bose stereos, data hookups, and complimentary wireless internet. Most rooms overlook the Torrey Pines golf course and the Pacific Ocean.

The Gamble Suite is the largest in the Lodge. Its 2,500 square feet includes a Presidential Parlor, private balconies, a full kitchen, two fireplaces, and two bedrooms, one with a king bed, and the other with two queen beds. The bathrooms have double vanities, a walk-in shower, and an oversized tub. Large working areas make the rooms ideal for business guests as well as vacationers. The Blacker Suite has the same amenities as The Gamble Suite, but is a little smaller, at 2,000 square feet.

The Thorsen Suite overlooks the 18th hole of the Torrey Pines Golf Course, and is 800 square feet. In its living room is a huge fireplace, and there is another fireplace on the balcony. Its bedroom has a king bed, its bathroom has a whirlpool, a fireplace, and a sofa, and the suite has a mini-bar and a small fridge.

The Robinson Suite has walk-out access to the 18th hole of the Torrey Pines Golf Course, and is 900 square feet. There is an oversized fireplace in the living room, a bedroom with a king bed, and a large bathroom. The Palisade Suite overlooks the 18th hole of the golf course, has a private balcony, and is configured like The Robinson Suite.

The Palisade Rooms have views of the golf course and of the ocean. Most of these 600 square foot rooms have balconies, and are set up with two queen or one king bed. Reserve Rooms overlook the Lodge’s courtyard, have a balcony or patio, a king bed, and are 530-550 square feet. Signature Rooms are 470-520 square feet, with one king or two queen bed; these rooms have a balcony or a patio overlooking the courtyard.

2. Dining

Dining

The restaurants at The Lodge at Torrey Pines are high-class establishments with excellent cuisine focused on farm-to-table dining. Both establishments on the property use fresh local produce, and have extraordinary wine lists.

A.R. Valentien was an early 20th century painter and ceramic artist who spent most of his career documenting in art the great botanical diversity of California. A.R. Valentien’s, the restaurant named for him, contains original Valentien artwork in its magnificently timbered dining room.

Overlooking the golf greens and the Pacific Ocean, the fine eatery serves regional San Diego cuisine, and offers a tasting menu with wine pairings. Several small rooms and plush booths are available for privacy, and are illuminated with stained glass lanterns.

The Grill at Torrey Pines is a more casual restaurant that highlights slow-cooked farm fresh food and local craft beers. Diners are seated indoors or on its expansive patio that features fire pits and excellent views.

3. Golf & Spa

Golf & Spa

The Torrey Pines Golf Course is a world-renowned 36-hole links. Set on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the courses are picturesque and challenging. The South Course is 7,698 yards and par 72, and The North Course is 7,045 yards and is also par 72. Golf schools for all levels are available, as are lessons and summer camps for children and youth, individual instruction by expert golf pros, and a large on-site golf shop.

The Spa at Torrey Pines takes its inspiration from the Torrey Pines State Reserve and the Pacific Ocean. It uses marine and botanical based extracts that reflect the surrounding ecosystems. As well as spa treatments, The Spa at Torrey Pines has a full-service hair salon, and offers manicures and pedicures.

Massages services include traditional massage offerings as well as speciality treatments. The spa has Swedish massage with its long, soothing strokes, hot basalt stone therapy, massages designed to relieve deep muscle tension, and aromatherapy massages that draw on 4,500 years of aroma-based treatment. Shiatsu and acupressure are on the menu, both of which release blocked energy and stimulate the body’s natural healing process. The Head over Heels massage pampers hands, feet, and scalp, and the Torrey Pines Par-fection massage is perfect for after golf, as it indulges the entire body, with an emphasis on the tired forearms that a round of golf will cause.

Facials at The Spa at Torrey Pines concentrate on anti-aging treatments. A varied list of ingredients are used, including Alpha and Beta hydroxyl and Vitamin C, all aimed at lifting, firming, and rejuvenating aging skin.

The Spa at Torrey Pines is a leader in the field of water therapy. Guests of the spa can soak in seawater to soothe muscles and enhance relaxation, can enjoy the softening and smoothing benefits of a milk bath, or take a dip in water enhanced with vanilla, bergamot, and rose to ease muscle tension and leave the skin silky smooth.

4. Weddings & Meetings

Weddings & Meetings

The Lodge at Torrey Pines is the most sought-after wedding venue in the San Diego area. Guest lists of 10-220 people can be accommodated indoors or out in the elegant rooms and grounds of the resort. Ceremonies at the Lodge include white folding chairs, an excellent sound system, the assistance of an audiovisual technician, and a serving area of mint-cucumber water. Receptions are grand, with hors d’oeuvres served by liveried butlers, cars parked by valets, and fine liquors behind the bar. Plated dinners are coordinated by the Lodge’s fine chefs, and include cake cutting, wine, late-night snacks, and an espresso bar.

In addition to ballrooms and cozy fireside parlors, The Lodge at Torrey Pines has two beautiful outdoor wedding venues. The Arroya Terrace is perfect for large parties, and overlooks the 18th green of the Torrey Pines Golf Course. The Signature Courtyard can receive a guest list of up to 90 people, and offers an intimate setting surrounded by native coastal flowers, plants, and trees.

Business people from across the United States have been proud to hold their meetings and conventions at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. Ballrooms, board rooms, and breakaway meeting rooms are available indoors, and outdoor meeting space is perfect for the year-round warm climate of the San Diego area.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines offers two utterly one-of-a-kind venues for meetings. One of these is The Evans Garage, a private, family-owned museum that collaborates with The Lodge for business meetings and banquets. The Evans Garage houses a collection of classic and antique cars, and is home to a biplane, antique furniture, and unique conversation pieces. Meetings and meals held here will be talked about for years to come. Another matchless setting is The William D. Evans Sternwheeler, a privately-owned riverboat reminiscent of the 19th century Mississippi River. The sternwheeler has two luxurious decks, a gorgeous stained-glass ceiling, and room for banquets, meetings, and live entertainment.
