The Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm is nestled within the picturesque Pocono Mountain in northeastern Pennsylvania. The farm is open to visitors for tours starting the third Saturday of June until Labor Day. Tours are offered between 10:0am and 5:00pm Tuesday to Saturday and from noon until 5:00pm on Sundays. It’s also open on some Saturdays during the spring and the fall, during which “family” members dress in period clothes to re-enact what life was like for the Pennsylvania German family that originally lived on the grounds of the Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm from the 1760’s until 1913.

The Pocono Heritage Land Trust was established in 1984 as a non-profit organization committed to the protection of the Poconos Mountains region’s natural heritage by not only conserving the land, but also providing inspiration for people to explore, enjoy, and care for their natural world. The Pocono Heritage Land Trust features several nature preserves for visitors to explore, such as the Glen Run Nature Preserve and the Fieldstone Farm Preserve. Glen Run provides four miles of trails for mountain biking and hiking, as well as opportunities for catch-and-release fishing with artificial lures. Fieldstone Farm is home to freshwater ponds, wetlands, and hillside springs.

The Monroe County Historical Association was established by Dr. Mary Erdman, in addition to other leading Monroe County citizens, back in 1921. The historical society manages a research library and museum, which are housed inside of the historic 1795 Stroud Mansion. The mansion was built by Jacob Stroud, whose family continued to live there for many years. The Stroud Mansion, and its Monroe County Historical Association Museum is open to the public by guided tour only.

The Kettle Creek Wildlife Sanctuary was primarily established to provide a safe refuge for various species of small animals, reptiles and birds. There are around 2.5 miles of well-maintained hiking trails, most of which are suitable for all ages. Pets are not allowed in this preserve in order to protect the resident wildlife. The Black Bear Trail is paved and therefore suitable for wheelchairs and buggies. The park is open daily all year round for hiking and cross-country skiing.
