When that I think of it, there are certain elements you want to include when you’re writing your speech. One “crowd” pleaser is mention certain people in the audience — this is a sure way to get some laughs, applauds and cheers.

Say something positive about the right people

When you’re up and speaking, be sure to say something positive about the groom. The other side of your newly extended family will be pleased. Then of course, say something nice about your daughter too. But I think you don’t have to overly flatter her — because being terse and humble is stronger then over flattery. Also mention the parents of the groom, for showing up and being wonderful people.

Mention everyone else!

Mention everyone who is attending the wedding (of course, including the groom and bride). They took their time and energy to attend, so you might as well thank them for coming. What I like to do is tell a little story, and praise my whole family. Then I praise my newly extended family, my friends, their friends, and everyone is happy.

Remember: Always keep things positive, funny, and humble. If you combine those three things you’ll be sure to get alot of applauds, cheers, laughter, or all three at the same time. I think I’m going to have a grand time delivering my speech
