2. Mount Jo
Mount Jo is a 2876-foot mountain in the Adirondacks in the High Peaks region about seven miles from Lake Placid. At the foot of the mountain are the historic Adirondack Loj and lovely Heart Lake. 6. Brewster Peninsula Nature Trails
In summer or winter, Brewster Peninsula Trails are great for stretching your legs, snowshoeing, mountain biking, running, hiking, cross country skiing, or just strolling along and enjoying the nature and the view of the lake. It starts at the gate with Corridor Trail, which starts by going down slightly and continues to descend until it flattens out at the point where it meets three other trails.

10. Jack Rabbit Trail
The 50 km long Jackrabbit Trail that was founded in 1986 offers a great opportunity for scenic and fun cross-country ski touring. 11. John Brown Farm
John Brown Farm in North Elba, Lake Placid is the home of John Brown, the Underground Railroad conductor and insurrectionist who moved to the Adirondack Mountains in the hopes of establishing a community where freed slaves and abolitionists could live in peace and work on land. After assaulting the U.S. Arsenal at Harper's Ferry, Brown was captured, imprisoned and hanged on December 2, 1859.
He was buried in front of his home in North Elba on December 8, 1859. HIs simple 1855 house is still furnished with period furniture and personal belongings that belonged to the Brown family. The lodging at Lake Placid Lodge complements its woodland and mountain surroundings. Lodge King Rooms are individually named Hearthside, St. Regis, and Tamarac. These quiet rooms are designed for comfort with king-sized featherbeds, cosy stone fireplaces, soaking tubs, rainfall showers, and private balconies overlooking the mountains.
The Treetop Suite is found on the Main Lodge’s top floor, where guests can stay at a place that’s as high as the trees. The rooms are surrounded by windows, giving a panoramic view of the outside. French doors leading to a balcony offer an even closer look of the view. Inside, the cathedral ceiling gives so much space while the king-sized bed is made of rugged wood that appears to just have grown from the floor.
Also atop the Main Lodge is the Whiteface Suite featuring tall windows and a private balcony overlooking the woods. Inside are hand-carved king sized beds, a comfortable sitting area, and stone fireplaces.
Just a short walk from the Main Lodge is the Lakeside Building, where there are six individually designed suites. Romantic and lavish, each of these suites has a beautiful living room, a king bedroom, and a double-sided fireplace. The bathrooms have deep soaking tubs, double bathroom sinks, and separate showers. They also have covered balconies with great views of the lake. They’re also pretty close to the lake and where the nightly campfire is. Because they are separate from the main lodge, the suites can also be reserved exclusively for large groups such in the case of family reunions and corporate retreats. Nestled down by the lake are five different types of Private Cabins where guests looking for more of both privacy and exposure to the outdoors can go to. Because of their location, they’re perfect for romantic or private getaways for couples and families.
Those who want to be closer to the lake can go for the Lakeview and Lakefront Cabins. The individually decorated Lakeview Cabins are just a few steps from the water, while the thick-walled Lakefront Cabins offer a bit more privacy while still being close to the lake.
The Two Bedroom Cabins offer comfortable and private stay for up to four guests. Each room has a king or two twin beds and its own bathroom with a separate tub and shower. Meanwhile, there’s ample living space between the rooms as well as a wood burning fireplace.
