Although it might be better known as a summer destination, Bear Mountain State Park is transformed into a wonderful winter playground when the snow starts to fall. Visitors can snowshoe and cross-country ski to their hearts' delight, and an ice-skating rink is open between the end of October and the beginning of March. Built from chestnut wood in the 1930s, the Greenwood Lake Log Cabin is a traditional lakeside cabin perfect for a relaxing getaway. There's a two-story stone fireplace in the living room, but because of the cabin's age, only candles can be burned in it. If you want to have a larger fire, you can use the fire pit out on the deck.
