Delaware may be one of the country’s smaller states, but it packs a punch when it comes to things to see and do.

Resting on a peninsula bordered by the Delaware River, Delaware Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean, and backed by dune-backed beaches, Delaware offers an array of outdoor and recreational activities and adventures.

The capital Dover boasts beautifully preserved 18th-century Colonial landmarks, while the riverside city of Wilmington has a charming waterside district of parks, boutiques, and restaurants. Make a splash at the Thunder Lagoon Water Park, check into a resort, explore the forest and swamps of the Edward H McCabe Nature Preserve and learn all about the history of the state at the Fort Delaware State Park. Here are some of the top things to do with kids in Delaware.
