While Washington, DC isn’t exactly Seattle or Portland when it comes to the “Third Wave” coffee culture, there has been a wave of new independent and creative coffee shops opening up across the District of Columbia, particularly in the Georgetown neighborhood.

These coffee shops have been changing the coffee cafe scene and now offer a multitude of new places for residents and visitors alike in Washington, DC to get their caffeine fix, and maybe a bite to eat, too. Along with great coffee, Baked and Wired in Washington, DC’s historic Georgetown district serves small-batch baked goods that are made using family recipes and innovative minds. The microbrewed chai, handcrafted espresso drinks, and expertly roasted coffee pair great with the bakery’s variety of homemade baked goods. The Baked and Wired menu features coffee and espresso from a number of coffee roasters, including Intelligentsia, Mountain Air, Barismo, Elixr, and more. Compass Coffee is a coffee company committed to simply providing “really good coffee.” They don’t really attempt to make anything fancy, difficult to pronounce, or too crazy, just simple, really good coffee.
