Portland is known for having a huge number of excellent craft breweries and fabulous pubs, but it is also the place where a surprising number of those pubs allow guests to bring their four-legged friends. Most of them have large outdoor spaces where the guests can enjoy their meals and cool brew while their dogs get a bowl of water. Those that have covered patios, fire pits and space heaters are not daunted by rain and cold, and they are open year round. Some bars go even further and, like the Lucky Lab chain of pubs, organize a yearly “Dogtoberfest,” a popular dog-wash event with a lot of beer and live music. The event raises funds for the Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital.
